In yet another major step forward for Cheng & Co towards becoming the leading, home-grown international accounting firm with offices in 100 locations by 2020, a signing ceremony – themed Synergy Towards Excellence – took place on 27 October, 2016 to officially seal the merger between Cheng & Co and Six Consulting Sdn Bhd.
Merger documents were signed and exchanged between Cheng & Co’s Managing Partner, Professor Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo and Six Consulting’s Managing Director Dato’ Vimmy Yap, witnessed by the special guest of the ceremony, Ms Kelly Sidhu, the Head of Business Relations at ACCA Malaysia.
This momentous occasion, held at ibis Styles Hotel, in Kuala Lumpur, effectively brings Six Consulting into the Cheng & Co family and will now be the firm’s Cheras branch, helmed by Divisional Partner Ms Evelyn Yap and Branch Manager Mr Tai Ming Ming. Six Consulting is an accounting firm that provides a wide range of professional services.
Established in 1999 by Dato’ Vimmy, the firm has progressively grown and expanded through the years and, today, offers an array of services ranging from accounting, auditing, tax submission, company formation and corporate advisory services, to unique services such as GST Consultancy.
Six Consulting’s relationship with Cheng & Co goes back 17 years, with a strategic collaboration formed shortly after its inception. Thus, this merger ensures a smooth transition while continuing to deliver high quality services and solutions, that meets and eventually exceeds clients’ expectations, which has always been a hallmark of the firm.
“An M&A strategy is a long-term waiting game and it is important to have tremendous passion to strike a deal with the right firm. Dato’ Vimmy Yap’s firm has been associated with Cheng & Co for the last 17 years and finally both firms have merged the practice. We aim to grow from strength to strength and soar to greater heights,” said Professor Dato’ Dr Chua.
