Congratulations to YBhg Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo, Executive Chairman of Cheng & Co Group of Companies, on his recent appointment as Adjunct Professor of Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST).
On 24th August 2023, Cheng & Co Group of Companies, represented by our esteemed Group Executive Chairman, signed a memorandum of understanding with MUST, who were represented by their President, Prof Dr Premkumar Rajagopal.
The MOU entails, among other things, close collaboration between Cheng & Co Group of Companies and MUST in the near future, particularly in developing a special accounting diploma programme that will see students study the subject in depth in MUST and work to get practical experience in Cheng & Co Group of Companies.
Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo is no stranger to the academia. He had been an adjunct professor in National University of Malaysia (UKM) and UNITAR International University. He is not just a professional accountant but a scholar at heart and believer in the principle that education is needed to develop human capital.
Following the signing of the MOU, on 5th December 2023, a ceremony was held at MUST where Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo was officially conferred the position of Adjunct Professor of MUST.
The occasion was memorable and unprecedented for it only strengthens our resolve to make the MOU a reality.
Before ending the session, Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo shared a little bit about himself, Cheng & Co Group of Companies, and the newly-founded ESG Service Corporation.
We, Cheng & Co Group of Companies, recently affirmed our commitment to adopting ESG standards during our 25th Annual Anniversary Gala Dinner on 19th October 2023. Our collaboration with MUST is part and parcel of our ESG journey.
Again, we congratulate our Group Executive Chairman on the appointment. We believe that Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo will bring professional insights and wisdom to future graduates of MUST. We would also like to thank MUST for organising an auspicious event as we march on together to create a better future for accounting graduates in Malaysia.
