Mr. Selvanathan
Professional qualifications in banking and company secretaryship from the U.K., and an MBA (Univ. Of Hull, U.K.)

Mr. Selva is a former banker and he brings with him a wealth of experience in a career spanning three decades. He held managerial and executive positions with leading commercial banks, contributing his expertise at both branch and Head Office levels. Notably, he served as the Head of several branches in the Klang Valley. His work experience spans from banking operations, credit/credit control, marketing/business development, and managing client relationships.

With a strong service industry background, he has deep exposure in managing a diverse portfolio of clients, acquisition/retention, relationship building, service delivery and complaint resolution. His role also involved the presentation and submission of credit proposals, including oral and written communication with the higher management for decision making in credit and other operational issues. 

Upon retirement, Mr. Selva served as a trainer for the Malaysian Bankers’ Institute for their credit programmes and the Asset Financing & Leasing Association of Malaysia (AFLAM). He was also a speaker for the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) CPD Programme in Service Quality and related topics.

Additionally, Mr. Selva served as the Head of Credit Control for a financial services group, overseeing their bank branches overseas. Thereafter, he joined Cheng & Co. Group, starting in Financial Advisory services for clients and training before moving on to head their Credit Control where he served for some nine years before relinquishing his position in early 2021. While with Cheng & Co., Selva has also conducted in-house courses in debt collection and communication/negotiation skills.

He continues to be involved in professional work on a free-lance basis and presently assists Cheng & Co. Group in facilitating financial advisory services and training programmes.

Mr. Selva holds professional qualifications in Banking and Company Secretaryship from U.K. and an MBA (Univ. Of Hull, U.K.).
