Malaysia’s Global Business Services (GBS) industry continues to enjoy solid upward growth and is expected to see greater gains this year. With this comes the need to nurture a highly capable talent pool by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the rapidly growing GBS industry in Malaysia, and the ASEAN region, especially in areas such as finance and accounting, human resources, etc.
A landmark event took place on 17 January, 2017 when a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Cheng & Co, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and, software solutions and services provider XeerSoft to incorporate Account365 into UKM’s GBS course. Account365 is a cloud accounting system developed by XeerSoft to provide flexibility, mobility and cost savings, among others, to businesses and accountants.
Cheng & Co will support UKM via its Pro B portal and conduct reviews on the student’s final year project which includes GBS assignments for clients. After the MoU signing, a highly engaging roundtable discussion was held on Finance & Accounting Transformation in GBS Firms – Opportunities or threats for future talent? and Cheng & Co’s Managing Partner Professor Dato’ Dr Chua Hock Hoo participated as one of the panellists.
Among the pointers Professor Dato’ Dr Chua shared at the roundtable includes the benefits of cloud accounting and why it is a cost-effective and efficient solution that is convenient and instant for SMEs / SMIs.
