Cheng & Co will be teaming up with the Melaka campus of the Multimedia University (MMU) to conduct research on areas pertaining to the firm’s talent development, employee retention and job satisfaction, among others.
The research and subsequent findings are not only expected to benefit Cheng & Co but also students from MMU’s Faculty of Business who are involved in researching subjects and issues on finance, management and human resources, as part of their final year project.
The idea behind this collaboration came about when a senior lecturer from MMU attended the launch of Cheng & Co’s Melaka office on 27 May, 2016 and received a copy of the firm’s bi-annual publication The Connection.
The contents and expertise in The Connection, particularly on matters such as employee relations and women’s leadership, impressed the senior lecturer and this initiated the process of engagement and discussions to consolidate this collaboration.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Cheng & Co and MMU will take place soon. This collaboration will hit the ground running with studies initially expected to be conducted on four key topics:
- Knowledge sharing among the staff in Cheng & Co
- Work-life balance among employees in the accounting industry
- Impact of job satisfaction on employee retention in the accounting industry
- The impact of talent development on job mobility across an accounting firm’s international subsidiaries: A study on Cheng and Co.
Further details on the MoU signing and research areas will be made available in due course at www.chengco.com.my.
